Private Asset Management Group Strategies for the Informed Investor
Investment Management Our conservative asset management approach is based on strategic asset allocation. Our portfolios, constructed with stocks, bonds and/or mutual funds; are centered on broad diversification of multiple asset classes with low levels of correlation. Low correlation helps to mitigate market volatility and provides the greatest potential for predictable, risk-appropriate levels of return. Well known are the studies that demonstrate that asset allocation, the first piece of that puzzle, when done in a tactical way, can account for up to 90% or more of returns/volatility. We think that's true, but also attempt to add value meaningfully through style direction and security selection. The two most common asset management approaches (active and passive) aren't necessarily mutually exclusive but derive their value from different sources. The active fund model attempts to tactically asset allocate but also find manager alpha that more than compensates for any fees paid. The second approach works solely by focusing on tactical asset allocation choices (and some style adjustments) and adding value via the reduction of fees i.e. ETF's vs. a more expensive actively managed fund. Both can work but vary year-to-year as to which strategy will perform better and in which asset classes. We take a hybrid approach, ETF's are used in the more efficient asset classes (like large cap) and actively managed funds are used in areas where manager skill really makes a difference for return and/or risk control (small cap and high yield for instance). Our strategic method incorporates an analysis of current economic and financial data. We retain two full-time Charted Financial Analysts (CFA) with over 50 years of collective experience to assist us with this consistently applied process. Retirement Income Planning
